Tips for Moving and Transporting

- Definitely have your fine art pieces appraised and insured by a qualified professional.
- Wrap your art pieces in a lot of packing paper and bubble wrap. We also do not recommend using paper from newspapers, as those sheets can deposite ink marks on the art. Fine tissues, packing peanuts, and double-walled cartons are excellent materials to use in order to keep your fine art safe and sound while on its way to its new home.
- Take time and learn how to pack your valuable pieces. You can use original packaging or modify large moving boxes. If it’s available to you, wood crating is often considered to be the most suitable option by far. If wooden fine art crates aren't an option, other boxes should be lined and stuffed with lots of bubble wrap and padding material. Aim to fill all the gaps, making sure your valuables cannot move inside the box.
- Temperature sensitive items such oil paintings need to be moved and housed with specific conditions in mind. If you live in a warm climate or are moving during the summertime, we recommend making sure to use a climate controlled moving vehicle and/or storage unit.
